Linux auf Virtual PC 2007

Das es geht ist ja bekannt. Warum sollte Linux auch nicht auf einem Virtuellen PC laufen, bloss weil es von Microsoft kommt. Das Microsoft das nicht unterstützt lässt sich verschmerzen, Support von VMWare wird man als Privatnutzer ja auch nicht erhalten.

Wonach ich aber lange gesucht habe, war wie ich eine Auflösung von 1280x1024 auf dem virtuellen Rechner darstellen kann. Ein Kommentar in diesem Blog hat mir geholfen:

Die rettenden Zeilen sind:

Screen resolution changes have to be made by manually editing /etc/X11/xorg.conf and adding the following to your “Screen” section:

DefaultDepth: 16
SubSection “Display”
Depth 16
Modes “1280×1024″ “1024×768″ “800×600″
EndSubSection

And add the following to your “Monitor” section

Option “DPMS”
HorizSync 30-70
VertRefresh 50-160
